• A 50% deposit is required to start production;
• It can be paid by credit card, bank transfer or cheque;
• The balance is to be settled before dispatch, and may be spread out in certain cases;
• The item is dispatched once full payment has been received.

This is indeed a deposit: it definitively commits both parties, you as well as us. Unlike a deposit (arrhes), it does not allow either party to cancel the order once production has started — articles L214-1 to L214-3 of the French Consumer Code.
